Wow, I really suck at this. Anyway, I'm planning on starting to post more regularly starting tomorrow.
See you then,

Remember to see Fuji's May Contest!
Look here: http://sanjosefuji.blogspot.com/2013/04/one-contest-ends-another-begins.html
P.S. Watching the Phillies-Braves game. Halladay throwing close to 80 pitches in 3 innings= not good. Halladay getting 8 ks in 3 innings= very good.

Card of the Week: 2012 Topps Phillies Team Set Jim Thome
Hello! One new feature that I would like to start around here is to do a card of the week post every Monday. The inaugural post will feature this 2012 Topps Team Set Jim Thome. After a remarkable stint for the Phils from 2003-2005 in which Thome hit 96 home runs, the Phils signed Jim to a 1-year deal in November of 2011. One issue the 2011 incarnation of the Phillies had was bench offense, and Gentleman Jim had blasted 15 homers in a bench/DH role for the Twins and Indians in the previous season. Thome's return to Philly was an anticipated event, as "Welcome Back, Jim!" posters were given away at the second game of the Phillies On Deck series against the Pirates. However, Thome faltered in his return, hitting just .242 with 5 homers and striking out nearly a third of the time. This prompted a trade to the postseason-bound Orioles in which the Phightin's aquired top catching prospect Gabriel Lino and pitcher Kyle Simon.
This card, from the Phillies team set, depicts Thome playing first base. The picture must be from Mighty Jim's previous run with the Phillies, as he played next to no first his second time around. If you remember, Thome was traded to the White Sox to make room for a young slugger named Ryan Howard.
See ya,
Josh

I'm Back!/Trade Post
Next, I got a 2012 Topps Opening Day Fantasy Squad Roy Halladay. Hopefully, the Doc can get back to his usual form this year:
Finally, I acquired a 2012 Gypsy Queen Sliding Stars Jimmy Rollins. J-Roll is arguably the centerpiece of the Phils, and if the Phightin's had a team captain, it would most likely be him:
Here's to a good and injury-free ST for your favorite team,
Josh

The Leadoff Post
Hello Everyone! I am a teenager who has been collecting baseball cards since 2009. My favorite team is the Phillies, as it has been since 2003. I went to my first game that year, and it happened to be Kevin Millwood's no-hitter against the Giants. As you can see from the name of the blog, my three favorite players are Hunter Pence, Laynce Nix, and Juan Pierre, but I also collect Roy Oswalt, Erik Kratz, and Andrew Bailey. I was inspired to blog by guys like Nick at Dime Box Heroes and the first blog I ever saw, Night Owl. When I just started collecting, I thought that a "sick" card was a triple patch auto of Derek Jeter, A-Rod, and Albert Pujols. While that would be an awesome card to have, those guys showed me that a card with a cool picture or a base card of your favorite player is just as sick. I will try to post everyday, but with school and all, I might not be able to.
Here's to a fun time on the blogs,
Josh
